Chichen Itza Ruins (Plus)

Visit the amazing Chichen Itza Ruins!
This tour leaves from Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

This full day trip gives you the chance to see one of the most fascinating ruins in the world – Chichen Itza. Add a visit to the old colonial town of Valladolid and a swim in an aChcihen itza Ruinsmazing cenote and you have a day full of marvels. While this tour is a long day, we will take care of you very well and ensure you have a comfortable, fun experience.

Appointed a World Heritage site by UNESCO many years ago, and recently declared one of the New 7 Ancient Wonders of the World, after visiting this site you will understand why!

This vast Mayan city was constructed in waves, thus exhibits excellent examples of different Mayan architectual styles. Chichen Itza was one of the Mayan World’s most important cities, which is evident in the many monumental buildings, including the famous pyramid of Kulkulcan and the largest ballcourt in the Mayan World.

THE TOUR
We start the day early in an attempt to avoid the midday heat and beat the crowds. Chichen Itza has a lot to see and we make sure that you get to experience this fantastic ancient city and all it has to offer. Remember, a Yucatreks tour is a different experience, more like being shown around by friends and having a great time!

A CENOTE AND VALLADOLID
No visit to ruins is complete without some way to cool off afterwards! The next stop on the itinerary is a visit to one of the areas amazing cenotes. The Yucatan is unique for its cenotes, which basically are waterfilled sinkholes, or entrances through caves to sub-terrainian river systems. Perfect for a refreshing swim. If you haven’t seen a cenote yet, you’ll be sure to be impressed!

An added value to our tour is a truly authentic Yucatecan meal we’ll have at the food market by the main square in Valladolid, one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. You’ll get to try an assortment of antojitos; tostadas, panuchos, salbutes, tacos, quesadillas and the Valladolid specialty, a sausage called longaniza. This is a real Mexican experience and super tasty! We’ll also have time to stroll around the quaint colonial town square (El Zocalo) and perhaps do some shopping.

One unusual sidebar to this tour is the often-requested stop at the Valladolid prison, where you can purchase some of the best quality hammocks in the Yucatan, handmade by prisoners.
