Hotel Deseo

Located: 5th Av. and Calle 12. (Town Center)

The Deseo Hotel is by far the hippest spot in Playa del Carmen. It is a whole new feel for this eclectic little Mexican beach town.
Clean Lines and simple minimalistic design adorn their 15 rooms. Rooms have enormous white beds, fluffy white towels, teak chaises, mottled marble floors, flowing curtains and some have terraces with hammocks. Overall, it is simple but pleasantly stylish.
All the rooms are air conditioned, have mini-bars loaded with yummy things, a safety deposit box and satellite TV. Bathrooms within the rooms can for some can lack a level of privacy. Although fabulously designed, bathrooms are separated by a flowing curtain and some tubs are exposed in the room. Deseo is great for couples but sometimes not for others who desire a great deal of privacy in the same room.

Some rooms have old claw foot tubs. The hotel is a short two blocks from the beach but many guests never seem to feel the need to leave the hotel.

There are 3 types of Rooms available:
Lounge View Rooms: overlooking the pool/lounge area (no balcony).
Balcony Rooms: They offer balcony’s that over look the street area.
Suites: they are very roomy and comfortable. 2 of the 3 suites have wrap around terraces with hammocks and doors that can open the whole room to the outdoors and breeze. Also, they have a separate dressing area that the others don’t offer.All rooms offer fluffy white towels, a nice selection of toiletries and well lit vanities. Just remember bathrooms are not as fully enclosed or private as other conventional hotel rooms. If you want a unique and chic hotel experience, Deseo is it!

The pool / lounge area is also something to see. They have cozy lounging beds and ultra-hip pool that changes colors at night. They also have been known to project old classic movies up on one of the walls in the pool/lounge area at night (without sound).
Deseo creates a mood that whatever it is you want to be a part of it.
At night the hotel’s lounge area becomes the place to be with its music, smart lighting, trendy bar and cozy seating. It is all open air to be able to enjoy the Caribbean breeze coming off the sea 2 blocks away. On weekends, they often have a DJ that creates the musical mood.
The Deseo does not recommend more than two in a room. They do not add beds to accommodate extra guests. Rates are strictly for a maximum of two guests per room.

Two of the three Suites at Deseo feature these wonderful wrap around terraces with huge patio doors that can be completely opened up. It’s a great place to hop into your hammock, put your feet up and chill out with a good book. They do not accept children at the Deseo Hotel.
